Cartier Meyniel Secures a Significant Victory before the International Chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal

On 23 February 2021, Cartier Meyniel secured a significant victory for its client, a Qatari national, before the International Chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal by obtaining the setting aside of an interim order requiring him to pay several million euros on a provisional basis.

The appeal filed by our client, four years after the challenged decision, was held admissible due to the failure to comply with the rules governing international service of process. More specifically, the Court held that service through diplomatic channels should have been used for a Qatari national residing in Qatar, and that service through consular channels could not validly replace it.
