Cartier Meyniel Appears in Landmark ICSID Annulment Proceedings

Cartier Meyniel appeared alongside Oriane Marion as counsel during the annulment hearing held on 23 and 24 November 2022 in ICSID Case No. ARB/18/2.

The case has since resulted in a landmark decision, with the ICSID ad hoc Committee taking the unprecedented step of annulling an award rendered under the Centre’s expedited dismissal procedure. As a result, the Egyptian tourism investor has been permitted to revive its US$320 million claim against the State of Kuwait.

The decision marks a significant development in ICSID annulment jurisprudence and highlights the important procedural safeguards applicable even in expedited proceedings.
